WHAT'S UNIQUE?
This farmer’s market is one of the only ones I’ve seen to offer Chicken Pot Pie. Chicken Pot Pie is a hearty family dish that is almost universally liked and is a filling, well-balanced meal – and tastes all the better when its ingredients are local! Its labels are also laminated, making them very clear and alluring.
PRICING
Good prices!
Lettuce: $2.00/head
Peaches/Nectarines: $2.00/lb
White Onion: $2.00/onion
Apple Cider: $1.00/1/2 pint
Bicolor Corn: $0.55/ear
ACTUALLY LOCAL?
All from the New York area. For example: Garlisle, New York.
CONVENIENCE
Great location for a farmer’s market. It resides right next to a cute little bubble of Battery Park. The market is also right across the street from the entrance to the Museum of Jewish Heritage, so the market gets business from tourists and swarms of people entering or exiting the park. Finally, the market is convenient for subway-users because it sits right at the front of the subway entrance.
NAVIGATION
Very easy to navigate on account of its size.
EBT STAMPS Not Accepted.
FINAL COMMENTS
This farmer’s market is a very typical one, but its business is constant. Placed right next to a picturesque fountain and in the center of a square, people pass by it on their way to relax or explore. If the market had “make your own salad” banners and biodegradable bowls at the produce section, perhaps it would be come not only a snack/light grocery stop, but also a quick lunch stop!
