WHAT’S UNIQUE?

Despite its size, the Grand Street Greenmarket has a couple things going for it.  Unlike most other Greenmarkets, the Grand Street Farmer’s Market takes credit cards! In this day and age, many do not carry around much cash because we have such a credit card-driven culture, so credit card usage at the market is very helpful.  In addition, the market has some great green tomatoes, a rare sight at the Greenmarkets these days. Fried green tomatoes is very popular to make, so why not indulge with the most local ingredients?

PRICING

Great prices.

Scallions: $2.00/bunch

Green Tomatoes: $2.00/lb

Cantaloupe: $4.50 each

Blackberry Fruit Spread: $5.50/jar

Muffin: $1.75 each

ACTUALLY LOCAL?

The farm locations at the Grand Street market range from Milford, New Jersey to Afton, New York.

CONVENIENCE

The surrounding neighborhood is Chinatown, a neighborhood highly populated by Asian restaurants, stores and people. This Greenmarket is a great source of fresh vegetables for the nearby restaurants to use; however, since there are only three stands and there is no seafood, meat or herbs, the market does not supply Asian cuisine very well.

NAVIGATION

No navigation required – only three stands!

FINAL COMMENTS

The Grand Street Greenmarket had almost no business, but if the variety and the number of days it is open increased, I think the market would gain some interest from the community.
